Archie

Archie was found lying on a street where people are not so kind to dogs.
We dont know much about his past other than he was owned by thugs, and they wouldn’t hand him over without a release fee. Many people are against paying for a dog’s release, but sometimes it’s necessary in order to save a dog’s life.
Archie’s body was raw from scabies, plus he had chewed and scratched his skin so much that it was inflamed and extremely painful – full of scabs and sores. Archie had lost so much fur and the wounds were so bad that certain areas had to be shaved from matts and in order to heal.
His ears were also severely infected, which has caused damage to the cartilage and swelling.
There was no way his owners were going to treat him. They would have left him to suffer, like he clearly had been for a very long time.
We think he is around 8-10 years old.
Archie is now in the vets where he can recover and be given the treatment he needs.

Update 19 January 2025:
The vet had some news today which is concerning.
The vets have noticed Archie has polyphagia, polydipsia and polyuria. The first worry was that he might have Cushing syndrome but thankfully his results came back negative for this.
The vets are now monitoring his blood glucose levels carefully as Archie shows hypoglycaemia two hours after eating meals. He could possibly have insulinoma which is a tumour of the pancreas.
We are currently waiting for results to confirm this so treatment can start immediately.

Archie when he was found.

It was clear how much this boy was suffering.
