Baloo was found on the street with severe head and eye trauma – there was a piece of wood lodged in his eye. Four Paws One Heart was alerted to his condition by a member of the public, and we immediately arranged for him to be taken to a vet. After arriving, he began having convulsions, and the vet had to monitor him closely to ensure he didn’t cause himself more damage.
Baloo couldn’t stand, but the good news was that he was eating. And if a dog is eating, then there’s hope.
Baloo was seen by an opthalmologist and had immediate surgery to graft his nearside eye with amniotic membrane. Medication helped to control Baloo’s seizures, and he was seen by a cardiaologist, who brought more bad news – he has mild pulmonary edema, enteritis, an enlarged liver, gallbladder sludge, a loss of CMD (corticomedullary differentiation) in his kidneys, cystitis, and prostate problems.
Devastatingly, Baloo’s heart was too badly damaged, and he passed away in Georgia’s arms at the farm in February 2025.
Baloo when he was found.
Baloo’s nearside eye had suffered horrific trauma.
