River

December 2024:

When looking for dogs to spay we found River. A old black baladi covered in tumours.
Even though it was unlikely she could have puppies, the thought of leaving her on the street was unimaginable so we picked her up anyway. The vet thinks River could be as old as fifteen. She only has two teeth in her mouth.

We weren’t sure she’d survive the surgery to remove her tumours, but she made it through, and due to her age and lack of being able to eat, we decided to keep her at the sanctuary. She couldn’t go back onto the street.

We hope to find her a home for her last years.

March 2025:

River is ready to find a new home.

🩷 Around 15 years old
🩷 Can live with dogs, cats, and teenagers although a quiet home is preferred
🩷 Health checked
🩷 Spayed
🩷 Personality: Quiet, submissive, nervous of strangers at first- once she feels safe and knows you wont hurt her, she loves to have affection, she just wants kind hands and to be loved, enjoys pottering in the garden, loves to sniff and explore, loves food.
🏡Home required: River would be best suited in a quiet family with not many visitors, a family that is home for most of the day and can spend their moments with River.
As River is scared of new surroundings and people she needs a quiet relaxing home to decompress and live her last years in peace 🥰 She is not aggressive when she is scared, she just curls up in a ball for safety. She just needs a human to love, trust and spoil her.
